The Harvard-Kent Leadership & Scholarship Partnership is pleased to announce the 2017 college scholarship winners! These outstanding students – two each in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades – were celebrated in the Partnership’s 12th annual award ceremony. Also attending the ceremony were previous scholarship winners who graduated from high school this spring and are headed to college in the fall. Congratulations to all!

The Leadership & Scholarship Partnership is an all-volunteer organization committed to making the dream of college a reality for students at the Harvard-Kent Elementary School, a Level 1 Boston Public School in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

Each year we award six incentive scholarships to exemplary student leaders in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  We provide enrichment activities and, as our students grow, the Partnership offers mentoring and college application advice.  In our 11-year history, we have awarded 66 scholarships; all of the scholarship recipients who have reached college age are attending college.

We are also proud to support the Harvard-Kent School in other ways, as well, by helping to fund the music program and a reading intervention initiative.

“The Leadership Scholarship program is a perfect example of how a community and a school should work together in partnership. If we had more of these kind of partnerships, we’d have a lot fewer needs in the city.”

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh
